A pagan black metal band hailing from Ukraine has impressed many with this album which takes the listener through a mood swing through the variations of seasons; a bleak departure from the summer blaze moving to the dry autumn and plunging into the dead cold of the harsh winter.
In continuation of posts related to WITTR, this album is a combination of spirituality+nature+ black metal, creating a non-misanthropic approach to the usual black metal lyrical themes and showing humble submission to the environment through dark but energetic forces in its sound.
I found a tape of this band at a music store and picked it up coz I liked the cover. I have ever since never ceased to like this band's music, despite not having much likeness towards the Grindcore/Technical Death metal genre.
Disharmonic Orchestra is from Austria and started off as a Death/Grindcore band and lately has has explored avant garde genre in their music. Expositionsprophylaxe is highly underrated, with excellent lyrical content and grinding guitar sounds.
Borknagar is a folk/progressive/black metal band hailing from Norway having lyrical influences of Nature, Science, Cosmos, Mythology... The album 'Origin' is a refreshing blend of acoustic and vocals showing heavy epic influences. A band with true pagan spirit.
The album name meaning "the infernal masquerade", is a brilliantl piece by the Avantgarde/Experimental BM band Arcturus, of which Ad Astra and Throne of Tragedy are my favorites.
